A Tribute to Teachers

I am often struck by how blessed I am to work with our staff at AKCS. Many things remind me of this blessing. Here are a few:

When I come to school in the morning and see teachers shoveling snow from their steps and ramps
When I overhear a teacher giving godly advice or counsel to a student
When I listen to teachers pray for their students
When I observe the long hours they give for lower pay
When I assign extra responsibilities and they are cheerfully accepted
When I observe their enthusiasm in the classroom
When I make a tough decision and know they support me
When the Board makes a tough decision and is supported
When I worked alongside many of them over the summer painting, moving, cleaning, organizing, etc.
When I see them working in difficult situations (frozen pipes, rooms too cold or hot) and never once complaining
When I hear them share their concern for a struggling student
When I see them involved in discussions that don’t directly impact their classroom but affect the school as a whole
When I listen to each one lead in our morning devotional times
When I see them give extra time to help with special school events
When I listen to them debate educational issues at staff meetings without ever hearing a negative word or tone
When I see them encouraging one another, helping one another, and protecting one another
When I make suggestions or offer correction and it is accepted graciously
When I need a volunteer to cover for an absent teacher, etc. etc. etc….
