I was born and raised in South Africa and came to Canada 12 years ago. This is my eighth year at AKCS and I continue to marvel at the wonderful opportunities I've had in growing in my faith with this community of believers at AKCS. At AKCS "Koinonia" is given a high priority and it is such a blessing to have times provided where you can have fellowship with co-workers, parents and students. To laugh, pray and work together as a team as we train up our children in the way they should go is indeed a privilege.
Teaching at AKCS has given me the opportunity and the challenge to be increasingly more intentional in bringing a Christian worldview to all the lessons and subjects I teach. I am passionate about teaching our students about prayer and to allow enough time for them to speak to their Heavenly Father and to hear His voice.
Students always ask me to tell the up and coming Grade 4 class my frog story. You see - I've had many opportunities to kiss a frog (desperate to turn into o prince), but I've just never been that desperate - which would explain my status as a single woman. Some people are quite shocked to learn that I would kiss birds and hippos, but not a frog or even a dog.
My hobbies and interests include reading, scrapbooking, hiking, cycling and netball. I also love every opportunity I get to visit my parents and other family and friends in South Africa.
